How Much Does Mudjacking Cost in West Michigan?
Mudjacking is the traditional concrete lifting method — and in most situations, it's the most cost-effective way to raise a settled slab. Here's what it costs in the West Michigan market and what drives the number.
West Michigan mudjacking cost ranges:
- Sidewalk panel: $250–$500 per panel
- Driveway (typical two-car): $1,200–$3,000
- Patio (400 sq ft): $700–$2,000
- Garage floor: $500–$2,000
- Porch and steps: $350–$1,400
These ranges reflect the variance in void volume beneath different slabs. A driveway that's settled half an inch over a small void costs far less in material than one that's dropped three inches over a large cavity.
What Mudjacking Costs Per Square Foot
Contractors who quote mudjacking by the square foot typically charge $3–$8 per square foot. We don't quote this way — void volume matters more than surface area — but this gives a useful cross-check. A 600 sq ft driveway at $5/sq ft would be $3,000; our on-site estimates for similar driveways typically fall in the $1,200–$2,500 range depending on actual void space.
What Drives Mudjacking Cost
Material volume. Mudjacking slurry is mixed on-site from cement, sand, and water. The amount needed depends entirely on how much void space exists beneath the slab. More settlement = more void = more material = higher cost.
Number of injection points. Each drill hole and injection point takes time. A driveway with five settled sections in different areas requires more holes and more time than one large settled section.
Access. Standard open access to a slab is straightforward. Slabs near fences, landscaping, or structures may require more time to work around.
Patching. We patch all drill holes (1.5–2 inches) with cement after the job. This is included in the quote.
Mudjacking vs. Polyurethane Foam Cost
Polyurethane foam injection costs 20–50% more than mudjacking for the same area. For a typical driveway that mudjacks for $1,500, poly foam runs $1,800–$2,200.
The cost premium buys faster cure (one hour vs. 24 hours), lighter weight (2–4 lbs/cu ft vs. ~100 lbs/cu ft), and better performance in wet conditions. For pool decks, stamped surfaces, and areas with drainage concerns, those advantages are worth the premium. For a standard residential driveway in good condition, mudjacking is typically the right call on cost.

When Mudjacking Is the Right Choice
Mudjacking makes the most sense when:
- The concrete is structurally sound and the settlement is moderate
- The area drains reasonably well
- You don't need same-day vehicle access (24-hour cure)
- Cost efficiency is the primary driver
It may not be the right choice for pool decks, areas with persistent drainage issues, or stamped/decorative surfaces where fewer injection points matter.
